Welcome to the relaunched GM: Gambling Matters. Gambling Matters started its life as Breakeven Southern News in November 1996. Then Breakeven Southern (as Gambler’s Help Southern was formerly known) operated out of 5 sites. Since then Gambler’s Help Southern newsletters have been called A Better Bet before eventually changing to Gambling Matters and now to GM: Gambling Matters. Since our last issue in Summer 2002, Gambler’s Help Southern has grown and changed. Apart from an increase in staff, and demand, Gambler’s Help Southern staff now have access to email and web technologies and these have been harnessed through the use of a web based appointments diary, and better communication between staff and external parties.

The new GM: Gambling Matters aims to do more than just present news and information about our service. It aims to inform, explore and provoke discussion of gambling as an issue by presenting articles relevant to a variety of audiences and hoping to encourage discussion of the growing issue of gambling and its impacts.

GM: Gambling Matters recognises that there are many different views and opinions when it comes to gambling and we would like to hear them.
