DUTY OF CARE ANNOUNCES INTERNATIONAL

POKIES IMPACT CONFERENCE (“IPIC”)

November 14-15, Old Parliament House, Adelaide

In association with Nick Xenophon MLC, charity organisations and local councils, Duty of Care proudly present the inaugural International Pokies Impact Conference to be held at Old Parliament House, North Terrace, Adelaide.

International speakers including Roger Horbay and Tracy Schrans from Canada, and John Stansfield from New Zealand will be presenting to the gaming machine care sector, the community and parliamentary members at this event.

Discussions are focused on how Electronic Gaming Machine (EGM) design and promotion impacts on human behaviour, how EGM addiction impacts on communities and the economy, and how the massive revenue government receives shapes the way they do business.

Expert speakers from leading academic institutions include Paul Delfabbro, University of Adelaide, Linda Hancock, Deakin University, James Doughney, Victoria University and Charles Livingstone, La Trobe University.

The conference will be finalised with a “hypothetical” titled “The Lucky Country” mediated by a media host.

It is a rare opportunity for international experts to share their experiences, knowledge and theories regarding the impact of gaming machines on the community in Australia and worldwide.

Whilst seats are limited, attendees are welcome to register online at http://www.dutyofcare.org.au/ipic or by contacting Duty of Care.

Duty of Care expect those within the care sector, the government and the community with an interest in the impact of gaming machines in Australia to attend.
