Gambler’s Help Southern has undertaken major redevelopment of the counselling service, as part of a broader agency restructure. The service now has a strengthened team based approach with coordinators for all three professional functions within the program: Counselling, Financial Counselling and Community Education.
A new Manager of Counselling Services has been appointed to manage administrative and clinical aspects of the counselling program and three staff from the clinical team have been selected to provide direct clinical supervision to fellow staff.
The counselling program itself continues to flourish with student research programs around counselling issues, redevelopment of the provision of group programs and hopes of beginning after hours services promised by the government for this financial year.
In addition to these existing programs, we have welcomed Harry Constantinou to the service. Harry will be involved in both intake and counselling roles.
The counselling team is on track to meet current service targets, through the hard work of all team members. Our intake staff regularly receive 60 to 80 referrals per month, and we continue to have an extensive waiting list for the services that we provide.
